Specification

I think we should clearly specify which EAN standards this function should validate. I don't think it's super useful to allow EAN-5 and shorter standards to pass this function, but at the very least, this should be documented. I'm not a barcode expert, by the way. Maybe this function should end up calling other implementations, such as "is EAN-8", "is EAN-13" or "is EAN-18", once this is possible.

For now, we should follow the principle of least surprise, and follow "convention" about what valid EANs are. --Azertus (talk) 19:36, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
